About The Photo
Bio page photo: I’m a railfan who loves to ride on trains, particularly when I can travel on a classic Pullman car like the Pacific Sands, which saw service on the Union Pacific streamliners. Now privately owned, this rail car—based at Union Station in Los Angeles—does excursion runs. This photo was taken in August 2010, when I rode a special train up the Feather River route to Portola, CA in the Sierra Nevada. I spent two nights on the car, parked on the grounds of the Western Pacific Railroad Museum, and had fun at Railroad Days. In January 2011 I rode the Pacific Sands from L.A. to San Diego and stayed overnight at the beautiful Santa Fe Station, just two blocks from San Diego’s waterfront. Is there a train book in my future? You bet!
