Shove Everything To One Side – And Write!

My mother is coming for a visit. It would be nice to have a pristine abode, no clutter, no dust, no dust bunnies lurking in the corners or under the furniture.

But it’s not gonna happen. Not here in the house of cat hair.

I’m running out of time. Mom arrives in a few days. I have a day job. I have a book to write.

That means instead of cleaning house, I’ll do what I usually do. Stash everything in various closets and warn my mother not to open any of them.

After all, it was Mom who once uttered the words I live by: Shove everything to one side – and write!

The writing is more important than the clutter, even if the clutter drives me crazy. The writing is more important, because I have a manuscript due in September.

And if you want to read that train book I’ve been talking about, I need to focus on the California Zephyr rather than the state of my office.

So back to writing that book!
