I have ridden on a few consists in recent years, with sleepers. It is a wonderful experience just to sit back and watch the world go by. Now, I love Amtrak, but there is nothing like an open window in the vestibule.
I travel a lot with my Mom -- an adorable little old lady who has in recent years re-discovered train travel.
A few of my videos from our trips are at youtube.com/tijuanagringo
We went to Feather river onboard the Tioga Pass the year after you did.
Last summer we went with LA.rail to Portland, Whitefish, and Seattle. Slept in the Salisbury Beach.
April 12-26 this month we are going on "Southern Comfort" -- to New Orleans, Washington D.C., Miami, and Chicago. We will be in room E of the Pacific Sands.
I write a lot, like you, and am toying with the possibility of publishing a novel online. Much of my poetry, and video, already is up.

Hi Jamie,
I responded to your comment a couple of days ago but it seems not to have posted. I probably didn't press a button I should have. Anyway, thanks for commenting. I'm really pleased with the new covers and I believe they will make a difference in sales but I certainly have a lot more to learn about eBook marketing!

Hi Jami,
Thanks for your comment. I'm learning so many new things about selling eBooks, some of them daunting but all necessary it seems, if one is to do it successfully. People like Karen and Elle make it easier.

Great work, Nancy and Karen! I love all the covers, but the new ones are definitely more snappy. :-) This is a tough lesson to learn, but you learned it with grace - "We were about to get a valuable free lesson in eBook marketing. YOUR COVER DOESN’T HAVE TO TELL THE STORY! IT HAS TO SELL YOUR BOOK! I pass along this little gem with love to any of my fellow authors who, like me, may not yet have quite 'gotten it.'" :-)

Hi Janet,

Great story! I'm doing a storify on 'writing real good for free' and was wondering if you would like to contribute.

The story is part of a series I'm doing in conjunction with an unglue.it campaign https://unglue.it/work/114233/ I'm running to offer one of my bilingual novels as a creative commons ebook (i.e. free).

Would love to have your perspective on giving ebooks away.

Thanks,
Nancy

Julia,

Well, I just might if one takes my fancy. Although I don't have any more room on the shelf. I can always reorganize the shelf . . .
